The Goatweed Leafwing (Anaea andria) has the largest range of the group, found in the Southwest, Midwest and Southeast.
They are large butterflies. The top picture shows a male, with an orange wing and slight dark border. Females have a more elaborate border wing pattern.
The bottom picture shows a side view of the same male. The leaf like appearance of the wings explains the subfamily's common name.
The caterpillars primarily feed on goatweed, explaining the butterfly's name.
